The serene landscape offered a perfect escape.
We faced some disappointment during our stay. The onsen reservation system was quite restrictive. it only allowed us to use the facilities once, and the 25-minute limit in the mornings felt inadequate. Additionally, the older facilities could use some updates, and the single-glazed windows did little to keep out the cold.

The cozy atmosphere brightened my stay, with delicious traditional shabu-shabu adding a lovely touch to the meals. The private bath was a standout experience, perfect for unwinding after a day of exploration. However, the limited number of rooms made it feel a bit cramped at times, and the older facilities could use some updates to enhance comfort. Additionally, noise from neighboring guests was occasionally noticeable, affecting the overall tranquility.

The culinary adventure at Chuzenji Pension was a delight! The five-course meal made me feel like I was dining in a European eatery, with charming service and stunning lake views that are unbeatable. Our spacious room offered a fantastic panorama, bringing extra magic to an already enchanting stay.
While the town's tranquility is lovely, we were surprised by how quiet it got after dark. The winding roads to Nikko are stunning, but don’t expect a buzzing nightlife here.
